[Update 11/26/18: ALL students in grades 3-5 have completed their fitness assessments. Their Fitness Assessment report card has been sent home and they have entered in their goals for the Spring.]
Several years ago WCPSS introduced some exciting changes for fitness evaluation. Wake County school's adopted WELNET, a computer database software where all your child's fitness scores will be stored. WELNET is designed to provide Physical Educators with a tool to gather student fitness data and communicate results to the student/parent. Wake County schools will be tracking 4 of the 5 components of fitness through WELNET, Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, and Flexibility. Body Composition (BMI) will not be measured. They are measured using the; 1 Mile Run, Push-ups on a cadence, Curl-ups in 60s, and the Sit and Reach assessments, respectively. This system allows the student and parent to log in at anytime and view their scores. These scores will follow the student every year, even if they move to another Wake County school. Students in grades 4-5 who are returning to Stough will now have fitness data from the previous year to track progress.
At Stough, your child will be assessed in the Fall and Spring. Immediately after administration of the assessment, your child's score can viewed by logging into WELNET at www.focusedfitness.org. (Username and password info are below). Please watch the attached short video for your child's grade level to learn more.
